Art Therapy is a mindful attuning and leaning into the creative process in the present moment in the context of a safe and nurturing therapeutic relationship. Art Therapy provides opportunities for verbal and non-verbal expression of thoughts and feelings as well as reflection, interpretation, mirroring, reframing, self mastery, revealing unconscious meanings and ultimately personal discovery and transformation. My approach is relational, client centered, trauma informed, culturally sensitive, compassionate inquiry informed, as well as rooted in mindfulness, motivational interviewing, somatic approaches, psychoeducation, and DBT.
Using imagery, colour and shape as part of personal exploration, thoughts and feelings can be expressed that would otherwise be difficult to articulate and process. Art Therapy can be beneficial for all ages and for a variety of personal challenges including anxiety, depression, interpersonal difficulties, trauma, etc. No Artistic experience necessary!
Relationship, trust and authenticity are essential components of any therapeutic alliance, and thus I aim to create an environment for my clients which is safe, comfortable, honest and non-judgmental. If you are curious and/or interested, I invite you to give me a call for a free consultation to discuss options. I look forward to hearing from you.

“Some things can’t be talked about…Instead they need to be ‘arted’ out.” When we don’t have the words
to express what is happening in our heads, hearts, spirit or in our bodies, creative approaches can help us
understand, communicate and connect with ourselves. No artistic experience necessary!
My name is Kirsten and I am a Registered Social Worker with 20 years experience in the field. In a search
to find innovative and creative ways to connect with people, I became qualified to offer Art Therapy in 2013. In addition to the use of Art Therapy, I rely on evidence-based approaches to inform my practice
including Accelerated Resolution Therapy (A.R.T), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused
Therapy and psychoeducation.
I use a blended trauma informed approach of talk and art therapy to support, understand and
collaborate with individuals of all ages experiencing a variety of challenges including anxiety, depression,
complex trauma, grief and loss, substance use, caregiver stress, burnout and troubling relationship
dynamics. The lens through which I practice with includes believing you are the expert of your own life,
clarity and growth is possible, validation of your circumstances is necessary for connection and the
creation of a therapeutic alliance, and you deserve a non-judgemental space to work through the things
that don’t feel quite right.
If you’re looking for a fresh perspective on how to tackle the challenges of life, trying out a new mode of
transportation via creativity and expression through colour, imagery and shape, may be just the ticket to
solving your issues so you can continue to the next leg of your journey. I look forward to hearing from
you.

Hi I’m Cindy. I am passionate about supporting children, teens and adults who have been experiencing symptoms of emotion dysregulation, depression, anxiety, relationship issues and poor self concept/esteem. I have specialized training in trauma, attachment and somatic therapies. Have you noticed that you have been trying to make changes but are feeling stuck in patterns that are no longer working for you? Have you or a child you love been through some distressing life events or traumas? We can work together to guide the body, mind and heart to build the life you want for yourself or your child.
Our bodies have innate wisdom to help us through times of distress but sometimes we can get stuck in survival patterns learned in the past. To promote healing and address the impact of trauma I use an integrative approach through play, expressive arts-based interventions, EMDR, the Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment model and Somatic therapies.
Choosing the therapist that is the right fit for you is very important, so you feel heard, connected and safe. I offer a free 15 min consultation for us to meet, talk about your needs and any questions you may have in order to help you make the right choice for you.

“I believe that art is a universal language that transcends words, expanding the possibilities for expression, communication, and connection. With a background in marketing, volunteer experience as a mentor, and a passion for psychology, I bring a special blend of creativity, communication skills, and solution-finding. My personal journey has taken me across different parts of the world, fostering a greater sensitivity to and respect for cultural diversity and the many ways people experience the world around them. After completing a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with Counselling, I proceeded with the Art Psychotherapy Diploma program at the Canadian International Institute of Art Therapy (CiiAT) to enhance my knowledge and skills to support people in reclaiming a sense of agency and restoring balance in their lives.I aim to create a safe and non-judgmental space, helping people explore, build resilience, and reconnect with inner strengths. I follow a trauma-informed, client-centred, and culturally responsive approach. I am excited to share with you a creative journey and witness the transformative power of art-making.
